THE RACING-CAR BORN IN UK.

MINI CHALLENGE JAPAN is a domestic one-make racing series, localized for Japan from the “MINI CHALLENGE UK,” which began in the United Kingdom in 2002. The series has been held in full-scale operation since 2018.

As a JAF-sanctioned race series, it takes place at major circuits across Japan, including Fuji Speedway and Suzuka Circuit, delivering intense racing under strictly equalized conditions.

The race car used is the UK-built, race-dedicated model “MINI F56 JCW CHALLENGE.” Equipped with a 2.0L turbocharged engine producing approximately 250 horsepower, slick tires, and a wide body, it is a fully fledged racing machine.

Beyond competition itself, the series also serves as a platform for value creation and engagement with sponsors and fans, embodying motorsport culture and communication through the MINI brand. MINI CHALLENGE JAPAN represents a new-generation racing category.

DRIVER PROLOGUE

“DRIVER PROLOGUE,” launching in BMR 2026, is a development and hands-on support program centered on competing in the MINI CHALLENGE JCW, placing the challenge of real race participation itself at the core of driver growth.
In an environment where race results are clearly visible, the program supports the establishment of a “next-generation racing driver profile,” encompassing not only driving skills, but also decision-making, consistency, adaptability, and communication ability.

Real race participation as the core of growth

Real Race Participation as the Core of Growth

Rather than classroom learning or isolated driving sessions, continuous participation across six rounds and twelve races per season is defined as the foundation of development. Through real competition, drivers cultivate comprehensive racing capability, including decision-making and adaptability under pressure.

Career development with a long-term perspective

Career Development with a Long-Term Perspective

By accumulating real-world experience and competitive results, drivers build the foundation required to challenge higher-level categories in the future. The program supports long-term career planning through participation in MINI CHALLENGE JAPAN.

Enhancing communication and presentation skills

Enhancing Communication & Presentation Skills

Through behind-the-scenes coverage by the BMW & MINI Racing Committee’s dedicated media team, comment training, and social media support, each driver’s value and appeal are translated into words and visuals. The goal is to expand the fan base and maximize sponsor exposure.

Personalized support through a small-group structure

Personalized Support Through a Small-Group Structure

With a maximum intake of eight drivers, the program provides closely tailored, hands-on support aligned with each individual’s racing experience and challenges. By strengthening both competitive performance and communication capability, we jointly build a foundation that enables sustained race participation.
